5 Ways Being a Guitar Player is Like Being a Mom

Being a mom and being a guitar player may seem like two completely unrelated things, but hear us out. As a guitar player, you have a lot in common with a mom. You pour your heart and soul into something you love, you nurture it, and you watch it grow. Your relationship with your child, I mean, guitar can have its ups and downs, but in the end, there is an unconditional love that will keep you connected forever. In celebration of Mother’s Day, we’ve compiled a list of 5 ways being a guitar player is (kind of) like being a mom.

You’re always learning:

As a mom, you’re constantly learning and growing along with your child. The same goes for being a guitar player. There’s always something new to learn, whether it’s a new chord, a new technique, or a new style of music. At first it’s scary and things might not go so smoothly, but after a while something will click and everything you learned was well worth the time spent learning it.

You’re creative:

Being a mom requires a lot of creativity, from coming up with fun crafts and activities to finding new ways to solve problems. The same goes for being a guitar player. You’re always looking for new ways to express yourself through your music, whether it’s writing your own songs or experimenting with different playing styles.

You’re passionate:

Being a mom and being a guitar player both require a lot of passion. As a mom, you're passionate about nurturing and caring for your children, while as a guitarist, you're passionate about creating and performing music. It's this passion that drives you to work hard, overcome obstacles, and continually improve your skills. Pursuing your passion is a fulfilling and rewarding experience, whether you're strumming your guitar or tucking your kids into bed at night.

You’re persevering:

Both moms and guitar players need to be able to persevere through tough times. As a mom, you may face sleepless nights, tantrums, and other challenges, but you keep going because you love your child and want to see them succeed. As a guitar player, you may face frustrating practice sessions, difficult gigs, and periods of writer's block, but you keep going because you love music and want to improve your skills. Both moms and guitar players need to be able to push through difficult times and keep going even when things get tough.

You love to experiment:

As a mom, you love to experiment with different ways of doing things, from trying out new recipes to finding creative ways to keep your child entertained. The same goes for being a guitar player. You love to experiment with different sounds and effects, whether it’s trying out a new amp or pedal, or any type of tool that will give you the sound you’re looking for. And just like a mom needs the right tools to raise her child, you need the right tools to take your guitar playing to the next level.

Speaking of the right tools, one piece of equipment that every guitarist should have in their gear collection is a Positive Grid Spark smart guitar amp. This award-winning line of smart practice amps not only deliver amazing sound quality, but also includes a ton of features that can help take your guitar playing to the next level. Now with 3 options to choose from (the original Spark, Spark MINI, and the all-new ultra-portable Spark GO), there’s a Spark for every type of guitarist from the bedroom shredder to the world touring guitar hero. And the best part? Every model of Spark is 100% compatible with the Spark app which includes all the amps, effects, smart features, and more.

But let’s face it, no matter how many similarities we may draw between being a guitar player and being a mom, there is really no comparison for all the hard work, love, sacrifice, and support that a mother gives to her family. Mothers give so much of themselves every single day, sacrificing their own wants and needs to care for their children and families. The love and devotion that they show is truly awe-inspiring, and it's something that should never be taken for granted. So, to all the amazing moms out there, we salute you and thank you for all that you do! Happy Mother's Day!
